Technical Exchange with CRRC for fire safety

May 22, 2018, in response to the requirements of CRRC, the CASfire technical team conducted in-depth technical exchanges on design of railway vehicle based on fire safety.
Before the technical exchange, CASfire made a detailed technical investigation on the existing standards for fire safety and materials selection, which made the technical exchange more targeted. The technical experts of CASfire made a specified interpretation and analysis of the EN 45545 and TB/T 3237
Mr.Zhao, the Minister of CRRC, later mentioned that the technical exchange has given us a clearer understanding of the standards and regulation of the new EU regulations, further clarified the different requirement and grouping rules of different products, and played a positive role in promoting the actual R&D and design in the future.
The fire technical exchange also involved:
- EN 45545-1:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 1: General
- EN 45545-2:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 2: Requirements for fire behaviour of materials and components;
- EN 45545-3:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 3: Fire resistance requirements for fire barriers;
- EN 45545-4:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 4: Fire safety requirements for railway rolling stock design;
- EN 45545-5:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 5: Fire safety requirements for electrical equipment including that of trolley buses, track guided buses and magnetic levitation vehicles;
- EN 45545-6:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 6: Fire control and management systems;
- EN 45545-7:Railway applications – Fire protection on railway vehicles Part 7: Fire safety requirements for flammable liquid and flammable gas installations.
